Hello my friends! It's been too long since I last posted. I can blame it on a hectic work schedule, traveling - lots of traveling (work and play), girls nights drinking too much wine, Sunday nights in front of the TV watching Game of Thrones (if you're not watching, you're missing out), and so on.... but I know I'm the only one to blame. But dang, after writing this I'm feeling like life is pretty dang good right now.
Here's the latest going on in my camp...
But first, I'd like to give a special shout out to my amazing husband who has spent the last year working so hard on his very own start-up. His fantasy soccer app launched this month which was so exciting. It's super user friendly and really fun to play. Go to Togga in the apps store to sign up and play. I couldn't be more proud of his accomplishments.
When I began writing this blog I mentioned that the hubs and I were going to wait to buy a home...well scratch that. The Austin real estate market has been insane, costs increasing by the month!! People are moving here faster than the city can build enough roads for them to drive on and high rises going up by the minute. Considering all that, we've been on the hunt for that perfect home (a teardown or restore project) in the perfect location which is proving to be almost impossible. We haven't had much success yet, but I will keep you informed as that process continues.
I've been working a guest room and entry project that is coming along nicely. I still need to put a few finishing touches on the space and plan on posting before and after photos once it's complete.
Scott and I just got back from a quick vacation to one of the most beautiful places we've ever been, Tulum. We went back in November after our wedding and fell in love. It's such an easy flight and once you get there, it's paradise. Plus, I just turned the 30 and my best friend is turning 30 very soon. Therefore, we took it upon ourselves to plan a Tulum getaway to celebrate. It's the best place to clear the mind, forget about the stresses of daily life, eat amazing food, and relax on one of the most beautiful beaches.
Back in November we stayed at Coqui Coqui, a unique hotel known well for its perfumery. It stands out amongst the other boutique hotels that run along the beach. Here I had one of the best massages.
The interior...so simple and relaxed.
We spent every day reading on the beach.
The food in Tulum, WOW to say the least! It's the freshest, most flavorful food I've ever had. Have I mentioned I love to eat? If you ever make it to Tulum you must eat at Casa Banana, Hartwood, and Posada Margherita. If you don't, you're doing yourself a disservice. The coffee, smoothies, fresh fish, dessert, order it all.
Hartwood will blow your socks off. But get in line at 3pm sharp to make a reservation for that evening. We got there at 3:15pm and they were already booked for the evening. It was a terribly sad moment for us.
Stop for drinks at Casa Jaguar and Gitano for some post dinner fun.
Tulum had the most amazing sunrises. This picture does it no justice.
Our bedtime routine...more reading.
We loved our long walks along the beach to breakfast each morning.
On our most recent trip to Tulum, we stayed at Casa Violeta. We walked out of our room directly onto the beach and had the most amazing view of the ocean. We started each morning with yoga.
Restaurant at Casa Violeta.
We finally made it to the Ruins and what a view.
I made the mistake of only sunscreening half of my ghostly white body, similar to the color of a babies butt, and paid for it the remainder of the trip. Below you'll see how I covered myself from the neck down for the remainder of our vacation.
My girlfriend and I left the boys to nap on the beach while we did some shopping in town. They had the most beautiful dream catchers and textiles.
We spent one of our last evenings eating and drinking with these two wonderful people at Posada Margherita. Notice sunburned legs..yikes! Lesson learned.
We left a day early so they could have some romantic one-on-one time. He took advantage, got down on one knee and asked for her to be his wifey. I couldn't be happier for these two and what a way to end a wonderful trip.
